Utah Transit Authority officials say sparks and an explosion on a light rail train have shut down service lines in downtown Salt Lake City.

Officials say a catenary wire that carries power and runs above the TRAX train fell onto it late Tuesday, causing the sparks and an explosion.

Thirty people were aboard the train during the explosion.

Officials say one person suffered a wrist injury and was taken to a local hospital.

The incident shut down lines overnight causing delays on TRAX trains Wednesday morning.

Utah Transit Authority says the repairs could take until midmorning to complete.

The transit authority's commuter rail line, the FrontRunner, is also experiencing delays due to track-related issues caused by inclement weather.
