Hamilton Creator Brings The Broadway Experience To Utah High Schoolers

Understanding its popularity, Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton, wanted to make the musical more accessible to the youth. So, in a partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, Miranda created the Hamilton Education Program

In the cities where the musical was performing, a special high-school-only performance is organized. The requirements to participate in the program are to be a Title 1 school, which means many of the students come from low-income families, and the school must incorporate a special early-American-history curriculum created by the institute.

UPR’s Dani Hayes attended the high-school-student-only performance and tells us more about the program that made this unique opportunity possible.
