Utah State University Names New Provost

Utah State University announced on Tuesday that Francis D. Galey will be it’s new executive vice president and provost. Galey is currently the dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources as the University of Wyoming. He fills the position Noelle Cockett left vacant when she became university president in January 2017.

Galey will be the university's chief academic officer. He said his years working at a land grant university, including his time as dean and his oversight of the University of Wyoming Extension and the Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station, have prepared him for this new job.

Larry Smith, who served as interim provost for the past 18 months, said this experience is what will make Galey a good fit for the university.

Galey will begin work at his new position on August 1.
