Utah Man Sentenced To Prison On Convictions For Tax Evasion

Salt Lake County Jail

A Salt Lake City area man who contended that tax laws didn't apply to him has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison on multiple convictions for felony tax evasion and related crimes.

Judge Paul B. Barker sentenced 62-year-old Dennis Kay Iverson on Monday in state District Court.

Iverson told Barker during the sentencing that he wouldn't accept any form of punishment, and he unsuccessfully ordered the judge to release him.

Jurors had convicted Iverson on 13 felony tax evasion-related charges in March for evading state income taxes, failing to file tax returns, and a pattern of unlawful activity.
