The wife of a man convicted of gunning down a University of Utah student from China has pleaded guilty to two counts of theft.
The Deseret News reports prosecutors dropped other counts in exchange for the Monday plea from 25-year-old Kathleen Boutain, including criminal solicitation. She and husband Austin Boutain were accused of hatching a carjacking plot that led to the October 2017 death of Chenwei Guo, a student from Beijing.
Austin Boutain is serving life without parole after pleading guilty to murder and kidnapping charges in September.
Authorities have said they were drifters who had killed another man, 63-year-old Mitchell Ingle in Golden, Colorado, and stole his guns before they went to Utah. Prosecutors say Boutain used one of those weapons in Guo's death.
